Meems Bottom Covered Bridge & Roanoke, VA

As we traveled home I noticed for the first time in our Virginia map book a little bridge icon. It symbolized a covered bridge. Now who can pass up a chance to see a covered bridge, especially since there aren't that many left. The ones left tend to be off the beaten path too. We decided to hop off the I-81 on EXT 273. Then we drove south on Route 11 through the quaint little town of Mount Jackson. You'll see a sign on the right for the Strathmore Bed and Breakfast. Turn there and it will appear up the tree-lined paved road.

Had to get out to take some photos. Yes that is an old phone in Brax's hand which he pretends to take a million photos with. He loves photography so much that we bought all the kids digital cameras. Just didn't bring it on this trip because they would have gotten lost or broken for sure.

George Washington National Forest  is on the mountains behind the kids.

Alyssa is becoming a knock out!

Just adore these gorgeous girls of mine. They are intelligent, faithful, modest and hilarious!

Got the thumbs up! Braxton's first venture using the woods as a bathroom was a success!

Reminded me of home. Made me miss my childhood street: Strathmore Dr.

My photos going back over the bridge turned out so much better.
Pardon the bug splatter on our windshield.

Alyssa kept busy reading along our drive. Doesn't she look so studious!

Brax and Lane played doggies in the back for the longest time.
Promise they do have seat belts on.

No trip to or through Virginia is complete without a stop at Abuelo's for Mexican food. We miss our rolled tacos with Mexican guacamole and carne asada dinner so bad. (Makes me want to move back to Cali!)

Must also drive the Blue Ridge even for a few minutes
It is breathtaking!

Pimpin it in our sweet ride! You know you be jealous!

Last, but certainly not least we always make a visit to the Roanoke Star.

The view of the Roanoke Valley from the star is quite impressive.
Photos are from left to right.

We had a wonderful trip, but it was really nice to sleep in our beds that night.
