Texas Wildflowers & Alyssa's 13th Birthday - Texas

After we spent a full day in Houston we drove the two and a half hours into Austin. That drive was breath-taking! Texas Hill Country is absolutely gorgeous especially in the spring with the wildflowers in full bloom.

I really loved the beauty of the oak groves!

The wildflowers were glorious to behold along the sides of the road!

The wildflowers were out in abundance.

We had two little ones who loved getting to pick flowers.

On Day 7 of our move Alyssa turned 13 years old. We had an amazing day planned full of surprises to celebrate her birthday. When we pulled into the hotel the night before we were a little concerned about the wind and temperature drop. We went to bed that night hoping for the best in the morning. Sadly, in the morning it was still freezing and there was very serious gale force wind between 60-85 mph. The wind was really dangerous. On both the TV and the radio they were advising people to stay indoor and not to drive at all. We felt so bad because we were staying outside of the city and there was nothing to do in that area. Hotch took the kids swimming for a few hours in the hotel pool and we also let Alyssa pick what to eat for the meals. Her birthday was rather lame, but she was gracious all day.

I am so grateful for such a bright, cheerful daughter who is both kind and understanding. She is such a joy in our lives! We adore her.

Glad that we were all together for her birthday and hoping next year her birthday will be much better. She deserves it and much more!
