Houston Garden Center - Houston, TX

We woke early on Day 6 of our move back to CA and had really delicious breakfast at the hotel. Those are some hungry people!

As we drove into Houston, Texas we passed by quite a few of these nasty oil refineries. Yuck! We had to circulate the air in the van because the air from outside was so toxic. It was thick, clung to your throat and burnt the inside of your nose. Disgusting toxic air! There clearly aren't many regulations or concerns about air quality in the neighborhoods southeast of Houston.

Our first destination for the day was the Houston Garden Center located inside Hermann Park in southwest Houston, Texas. Hermann Park is a really awesome place to visit and you can spend an entire day there. We planned to visit The Houston Museum of Natural Science next to the Houston Garden Center, but changed our minds when we saw tons of kids and school buses. Glad we visited the Houston Garden Center instead.

We loved the massive trees and the gorgeous rose gardens. Love that statue of Martin Luther King, Jr. peeking around the bushes below.

The roses were absolutely amazing and smelled so sweet!

These were especially fragrant roses.

Delaney loved this rose because it was blood red (her favorite color).
It reminded her of vampires and the movie Twilight.

Isn't this a cheerful yellow?!?

These were my favorite roses. I love the many different colors in each rose, especially the oranges and yellows. Gorgeous!

Looks like the petals were almost sunburned.

Delaney was in heaven getting to smell all the roses.

These roses are as bright and vibrant as my Alyssa is.

Look at how cool these spray roses were.

Delaney was ecstatic when we finally found a single blood red rose.

Can you tell that the sun was really bright? They weren't really into taking pictures until I asked them to be crazy. Then they became quite animated.

Not a terrible picture of us. Just wish I was in better health.

Loved the name of this rose!

We only found one orange rose. Braxton was searching for a "boy" color.

The Houston Garden Center is a lovely, peaceful place.

After spending about 45 minutes looking at all of the different types of roses we headed to the northwest side of Houston. We had a few more stops planned. The traffic was lousy the closer we got to downtown Houston. Again we experienced horrific drivers.

Houston is a very crowded, busy city. Its freeways are not for the faint-hearted. We were almost hit multiple times by crappy drivers.
