Hotch Arrives in Mississippi - Jackson, MS

Once we left Montgomery, AL it took everything in me to stay awake and get us to the hotel in Jackson, MS. (After giving birth to Delaney my night vision became horrendous. I never drive in the evening when Hotch is around and I try to avoid it as much as I can when I am behind the wheel.) The drive from Montgomery to Jackson was so dark and took more than 4 hours. There was a lot of praying going on in the van that night. I was so grateful for Alyssa and her incessant talking because she helped me stay awake. At one point she and I were rocking out like crazy maniacs so we could stay awake. We finally arrived at the hotel around 1am and crashed right away. Everyone was so tired!

The next morning I had the unique pleasure of experiencing terribly swollen hands and feet. They were so swollen that I could barely move them and my shoes did not fit at all. Great way to start the day after a long, tiring night.

These girls were so cute to watch as they got ready for the day!

Since Hotch did not get his part of the move done by the time we needed to get on the road (we had prepaid hotel reservations for the entire trip that we could not get out of) he had to stay behind to finish up his jobs and get our deposit back. We bought him a bus ticket to meet up with us in Jackson, Mississippi. It was a little nerve wrecking getting to the Greyhound bus stop in Jackson since it was a very bad part of town and started raining like crazy. Once inside the terminal we felt much safer. I bought some sandwiches to eat as we patiently waited for Hotch to arrive. The little ones couldn't wait for him to arrive and decided to play hopscotch on the checkered tile floor.

It was so wonderful seeing him walk through the terminal doors.
We were ecstatic having him with us again!

Love the look on his face when he saw the kids running up to him!

Since we were in Jackson, MS we drove the street to check out the Mississippi Governor's Mansion and the Mississippi State Capitol Building. Everything was closed, but it was still nice to check them out briefly.

Wish we would have heard the song "Jackson" while we there. Enjoy!

In a side note: Many online reviews of Jackson, MS mention the horrendous roads and highways. This is not an exaggeration at all. They are very poorly maintained! You need to be ever watchful for deep, dangerous potholes. The freeway is chalked full of huge potholes right around the Jackson exits. The downtown Jackson streets are ridiculous. They seriously need to devote some money to road maintenance before someone gets injured.
