Daffodils out in the Countryside

One of my favorite things about late winter/early spring in North Carolina is all of the amazing daffodils. It's our family tradition to go driving in the country where the daffodils bloom most heavily along the side of the road and pick some for our home.

They are little bursts of sunshine along the road.

The kids love this tradition! They try to make the most beautiful bouquets.

What sweetheart!

Who wouldn't want to go pick daffodils?

Last Trip to Pisgah Covered Bridge - North Carolina

There has been a bunch of rain so we decided to take a trip down to the Pisgah Covered Bridge. We wanted to check out the height of the West Fork Little River that runs under the bridge and jump in puddles. Brax was being such a little weirdo! No idea why he kept making faces.

The river was very swollen with a swift current. Hotch took his place next to the river in order to prevent crazy kids from getting too close.

Braxton was having a blast at the bridge. Throwing twigs and sticks into the river just wasn't good enough. Instead he found this huge branch to toss in. Now that is a boy who is quite proud of himself!

Here it goes! After he tossed it in all the kids ran along the river following its route. There is a foot bridge down a ways and they were hoping to see it pass underneath. Too bad it got stuck half way there.

Alyssa is such a granola girl. I love her in a beany!

Love the colors and textures of the moss and fungi growing on this log.

These two are the best of friends and it's eerie how alike they are!

He reminds me of Captain Hook's first mate Mr. Smee with that beany on.

My little wild Delaney thought it would be so fun to get me with her stick.

Crazy girl! That's my Alyssa!

This boy didn't want to leave the river or stop throwing things in it.

The road that goes over the modern bridge.

You can see the modern road to the right and behind the bridge.

We were bored so I got the idea to see what it sounds like when the van drives over the new bridge. It was awesome!
